An alleged bank robber was arrested Monday in the food court at East Hills Mall. Arturo Ortiz Jr., 37, reportedly went into the Bank of America at 2800 Oswell Street and gave a teller a note in which he demanded money and claimed he had a gun.

A Tehachapi man was arrested Monday night after Bakersfield Police found guns and a suspicious device in his pickup truck in the parking lot of East Hills Mall. The device was determined not to be explosive, but police found a loaded assault rifle and a shotgun.
