A woman died in a crash during a police chase Friday night after driver ran into a commercial truck trailer while trying to outrun patrol cars on Oswell Street, Highway Patrol officials said.

Darryl P. Smith was outside a crosswalk on West Columbus Street when he was struck around 9 p.m. by an SUV. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

Park rangers at Hart Park shot a man and woman Saturday night after  they say the duo tried to hit one of the rangers with their stolen car.

The third, and presumptive final, suspect in a Feb. 16 murder has been arrested. Pedro Carrillo, 18, was arrested around midnight Wednesday and booked on a no-bail warrant on suspicion of first-degree murder and participating in a street gang.

A man was shot in his backside while walking in a neighborhood near East High School on Saturday afternoon, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.

Two men were found shot inside a car at the intersection of Real Road and Highway 58 early Saturday morning, Bakersfield police said.
