A homeowner called Kern County deputies after he possibly thought someone had broken into his home, but he then initiated a standoff with deputies, the sheriff's office said.
Though it seems Christmas has crept into store windows, one town is missing out on a big holiday tradition. Because of a lack of funding, the Holiday Faire and Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade in Frazier Park has been canceled.
Another storm pounded mountain communities around Frazier Park, while some residents still struggled with no power. As of Wednesday afternoon, Southern California Edison was reporting 253 people still had no service.
An 18-year-old Frazier Park man was found dead in the snow Monday. Investigators are awaiting toxicology results before they say how David Reed Duncan died.
