The City of Tehachapi has announced the release of the Citizen Request Tracker (CRT) application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. This app works in conjunction with the city’s online Request Tracker system to allow citizens to report issues on the go. The app is now available for free to all...more residents at the iTunes App Store. The Citizen Request Tracker app gives Tehachapi residents the same citizen-power to report civic issues that were previously available only in large metropolitan areas such as New York City and Boston. However, unlike New York City’s and Boston’s iPhone apps, the Citizen Request Tracker app will work nationwide and is linkable on the go to any CivicPlus client. When a citizen observes a non-emergency issue, they access the app, designate the City of Tehachapi as their default location, add an optional description, insert a photo and then submit the issue. Using the iPhone’s GPS technology, the application automatically pinpoints the address of the issue to improve

Voters in Tehachapi head to the polls on Tuesday as three school board members face a recall. The special election asks voters if they want to recall Holly Hart, Patty Snyder and Mary Graham from the Tehachapi Unified School District board. Some parents are angry with these board members because...more they voted to demote middle school principal, Eric Trigueiro. For each member facing recall, the ballot also has a replacement candidate that voters can vote to approve. For Seat B, Chuck Hansen is running to replace Holly Hart. In the Seat C race, Diane Peterson is running to replace Patty Snyder. And Chris Duff is running to replace Mary Graham for Seat E on the school board.   If a board member is recalled, the replacement candidate would be certified by the Kern County Elections department on March 19, and sworn in at the next school board meeting. The elections department said any replacement board members will serve the remaining term of a recalled member. Eyewitness News will follow

Between 1 and 2 inches of snow fell this morning in the Tehachapi area with about 4 inches on the top of Bear Mountain. Cool conditions prevailed with a high of only 38 on Thursday. While it should improve a bit on Friday with sunshine in the morning, look for another chance for mixed rain and snow...more on Saturday. I think we could see another couple of inches of snow, but higher elevations may received 4-8" (say above 5,000'). Winter persists next week with another chance for snow on Tuesday, but finally a break in the action is schedule for Thursday and the following weekend. No snow, no rain- and temperatures into the mid-upper 50s!
