It wasn't the shin. It was a tactical error that cost Lindsey Vonn a shot at her second gold medal of the Vancouver Olympics. Trying to make a hard cut during the slalom leg of the super-combined, Vonn skied over an inside gate. The pole smacked against her leg and flicked her right ski clean off her boot, sending Vonn sliding down the snow and right out of the medals picture.

The Bakersfield Condors landed a franchise record four players in this season's ECHL All-Star Game. Timo Pielmeier, MacGregor Sharp, Dan Sexton and Eric Regan were selected to represent the Condors in the game, which will be played Jan. 20 in Ontario.

The Ducks recalled rookie G Justin Pogge from Bakersfield of the ECHL to serve as backup because of Jean-Sebastien Giguere's groin injury. But Giguere was able to take part in the pregame warmup, and Pogge was sent right back to Bakersfield.
